Although I cannot independently confirm all the information presented, it generally jibes with what I have heard from former CIA analysts, Iranian-American scholars and representatives of the Iranian society that cares for victims of chemical weapons. An understanding of this chapter in U.S.-Iran relations is essential to grasping motivation of the Iranian side in the context of recent history:
